Want truly unique images of your special day? Want something different without your photographer having to charge you extra for Photoshop work? Let me make a suggestion.... Find a photographer who totes around a couple vintage lenses. Yup, use old stuff.
Oldies can be very goodies
See this little guy to the right? He has a very unique defect.
He makes the background bokeh (blur) swirly. Want an example? Just keep reading, the examples will be towards the end :)
So why don't many wedding or photographers use these old lenses if they are so unique? Well I have a few theories.
1. Older lenses are usually manual focus. They take practice to use quickly
2. Not many people take the time to research what vintage lenses are worth purchasing. Or they don't know the benefits.
3. They do not have the equipment to use older lenses. Yup, that's right you need something special to use old stuff. Usually just an adapter but not every camera can use adapters, so not every photographer can use vintage glass.
This is your special day! Make it stand out!
Want to see some examples of vintage lenses in action?
See the glow in this one above? Almost dreamy?
How about the image to the left. See how everything gradually loses focus but her eye and kiss are clear? Yeah... That's from using a vintage lens on a nifty little tilt adapter. Won't get those results from the same ol' run of the mill wedding photography kit.
How about this swirly look in the background? That is actually a defect. A lovely, lovely defect.
